Eastern Europe

Land O'Lakes has a long history assisting countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia (ECCA) in their transitions to market economies. Since the early 1990s, Land O’Lakes has helped USAID and USDA to grow dairy, livestock, and high-value horticultural industries throughout the region. We have implemented multi-year development programs in 15 countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Our projects in the region have accelerated emerging economies’ entry into the global market by promoting agribusiness and other small and medium enterprises’ competitiveness and, in particular, by accelerating the entry of their agricultural and manufactured exports into European Union markets. The focus of this work has been to build market linkages between regional farmers and producer groups, and across other national and international links in the value chain.
